I embarked on a journey that seamlessly merged my creative and technical capabilities to redefine the educational landscape. It is a work in progress, a passion project, and a vision that will evolve and iterate as I strive for perfection.

From Static to Dynamic.
DegreeMaps started as a static site—an early proof of concept outlining the vision for student-driven academic planning. The latest iteration transforms it into a fully dynamic web platform, integrating Flask for server-side dynamism and SQL for structured data management, with SQLAlchemy (ORM) streamlining database interactions. Upgrading to Bootstrap 5 also provides a more modern, responsive front-end. This shift enables real-time user engagement, personalized academic planning, and seamless data handling—bridging the gap between static content and an interactive, scalable tool.

Originating from a static homepage, the initial proof of concept for DegreeMaps was built using HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap 4. Interactive elements were added through jQuery and JavaScript to create a clean, accessible experience for prospective students and clients. Deployed via FTP on a shared server, this foundational site marked the starting point of the project before evolving into the dynamic, data-driven web application under development today.

DegreeMaps began as a streamlined solution to help students navigate their academic paths—but before it could guide others, it needed an identity of its own—one that visually represented its mission and purpose. From its logo to its evolving design language, every element was crafted with intention. As DegreeMaps continues to grow, so too will its identity, with future iterations refining its visual presence and strategic positioning.
Through this project, I've brought together the worlds of design and development, shaping the digital future of educational navigation. As we venture into the next phase of DegreeMaps, the vision extends to creating a dynamic, data-driven platform. The upcoming iteration will harness the power of AI and align closely with a comprehensive Creative Brief, providing in-depth insights into consumer behavior and brand priorities.
